My light and color design class has been keeping me intensely busy with three step studies: one in a paint palette, then a light and color study in paint, and finally a recreation of it in "coloraid" which is similar to high quality construction paper. Difficult to cut and find the right hue/ value/ intensity amidst the 316 color options. Very useful though

In my 3-D class we have been constructing shapes modeled and inspired after Buckminster Fuller's work and designs. Our next group project is to build a large scale skeletal sphere to be on display out on the lawns of our campus. The goal is for it to be an interactive experience.
In my drawing class we have been approaching the figure and still lives with different techniques. This is a figure in space attempt
Composed of nothing but corners (can you see the woman on the stool?) Done without gesture or planning.

Still trying desperately to find time for pleasure drawings. (Happy Birthday Davey!)My social life up here is just as hectic and exciting - I seem to have stumbled upon the night life of New York, and its surprisingly free! good for the budget. (thanks to friends and club promoters who are nice enough/ well connected enough to get me on guest lists)

These are photos from Diesel's XXX party (30th anniversary) It was OUT of control. Amazing! (Didn't take the three photos above. Wasn't brave enough to bring my camera there)
I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to the red carpet premiere of Harvey Milk back in San Francisco. It is directed by Gus Van Stant and written by my good friend Lance Black. The event was incredible and the movie will be a HUGE success!! No doubt about it. It's time people finally recognized Harvey Milk for the inspiration he was.
Left to Right: (Sean Penn, Gus Van Stant, Lance Black)
My street, and my protesters on the night of the premiere
Afterwards there was a lavish party at city hall.
On a more political note: I am overwhelmingly happy that Obama won!! But severely upset that millions of California voters said yes to discrimination by passing proposition 8. I'm going to a NY protest on 8 this sunday.
Phew. I finally feel slightly caught up in the blog universe
