For those of you who don't know, Patrick Wolf is an experimental pop musician from London. His work is beautiful! I saw him at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC a week ago, met him after the show, and ended up getting caste as a dancer for his new music video the following day!!Tribal couture is how I would describe Patrick's video. I was the guinea pig for the fitting of Charles Manning's costume design - the collar hurt but it was well worth it.
After getting stuffed into a skin-tight spandex body suit us dancers were splattered with fluorescent paint and placed on elevated boxes to perform the choreography! Unfortunately, we had to simplify the original dance because the collars acted as horse blinders - we couldn't see the edges of the box or our feet for that matter...
I was happy to see that Patrick remembered me from the previous night: he walked into the studio and approached me "you dance!?" I was caught off guard by his question soI slipped behind a couple of beats in the choreography, but managed to continue the dance while saying hello.
I’m very excited to see how the video will turn out! It was WILD. I cannot wait to see Patrick perform in San Francisco June 8Th ! And who knows, maybe I’ll get to work with Nylon Magazine again =)
© The Unicorn's Cravat, I ended up on a NYC fashion blog after Patrick's concertP.s. I did not eat the jello.
